About the School:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate Behaviour Learning Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive and understanding environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally in an educational setting, and possess a patient and resilient approach to working with children who may display challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning plans that meet the individual needs of each pupil.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, helping them navigate challenges related to SEMH.
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviour, ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to monitor students' progress and adapt support where necessary.
  • Promote inclusion and build positive relationships with pupils, helping them feel understood and supported.
  • Contribute to the implementation of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring the specific needs of each pupil are met.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally in an educational setting.
  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to working with children who may display challenging behaviour.
  • An understanding of conditions such as ADHD, ADD, attachment disorder, and anxiety disorders.
  • The ability to work well within a team, as well as independently.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to working with children with additional needs.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (desirable but not essential).
