Job Title: Preoperative Assessment Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Preoperative Assessment Nurse to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive preoperative assessments of patients undergoing surgical procedures. This will involve gathering patient information, conducting medical examinations, and providing preoperative advice and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct preoperative assessments of patients undergoing surgical procedures
  • Collate patient information and conduct medical examinations
  • Provide preoperative advice and support to patients and their families
  • Liaise with anaesthetists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth patient care
  • Develop and implement assessment and referral protocols and guidelines
Requirements:
  • Current first or second level NMC Registration
  • Evidence of continuing education and professional development
  • Teaching or mentoring qualification (for band 6)
  • Computer literacy
  • Nursing degree or working towards
