Preoperative Assessment Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Preoperative Assessment Nurse to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
About the Role:The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive preoperative assessments of patients undergoing various surgical procedures. This will involve gathering patient history, performing health screenings, and conducting medical examinations to ensure patients are suitable for surgery.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct preoperative assessments of patients, including patient history, health screenings, and medical examinations
- Liaise with anaesthetists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive optimal care
- Develop and implement assessment and referral protocols and guidelines with medical and nursing staff
- Provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals
- Exercise clinical judgement and decision-making about patients' suitability for surgery
- Current first or second level NMC registration
- Evidence of continuing education and professional development
- Teaching or mentoring qualification (for band 6)
- Computer literacy
- Nursing degree or working towards
