About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Housekeeper at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. As a Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the comfort and well-being of our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide refreshments to patients and relatives attending the day unit for anti-cancer treatment.
- Receive, welcome, and guide visitors coming onto the unit, liaising with other staff as appropriate.
- Act as a ward contact point for the catering department.
- Check all food items held in the kitchen to ensure good practice with stock rotation. Dispose of any items that have exceeded their designated use by date.
- Collect medications and chemotherapy from the pharmacy.
- Deliver samples and items within the hospital.
- Ensure the ward is clean and safe for patients and staff.
- Be responsible for ensuring the ward is fully stocked, including the nursing trolleys. That equipment is in date, stored correctly, and store areas are tidy.
- Complete fridge temperature audits and escalate concerns to the ward lead.
- Be responsible for keeping linen stocked in both the cupboard and trolley.
Requirements
- English qualification (for example GCSE)
- Math qualification (for example GCSE)
- Experience with working with members of the public
- Ability to work in a busy, face-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize workload
- Basic computer skills
- Able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
- Work to the standard of UHD trust values
- Energy and enthusiasm
- Presents as friendly and approachable
