We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist school for children with complex learning needs and autism.

As a key member of the staff team, you will provide general support to the teacher, including managing pupils in lessons, swimming, playtime, leisure, and lunchtimes, and preparing teaching resources and displays.

Pupils have special educational needs, requiring a range of support. We seek a SEND Teaching Assistant with a passion for and commitment to working with children with complex learning needs.

Previous experience supporting young children or adults with special educational needs is preferable.

The school is a large specialist SEND primary school for 3 to 11-year-olds with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties, and some who also have an additional diagnosis of autism.

The school provides a specialist learning environment for up to 140 pupils across two sites, with excellent facilities and a range of indoor and outdoor learning spaces.

Learning is focused on each child's unique abilities, with teachers, therapists, and support staff working together to help them meet their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the teacher in managing pupils in lessons, swimming, playtime, leisure, and lunchtimes
  • Preparing teaching resources and displays
  • Providing a range of support to pupils with special educational needs

Requirements:

  • Real passion for and commitment to working with children with complex learning needs
  • Previous experience supporting young children or adults with special educational needs (preferable)
