Job Summary

The Welfare Rights Service is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable professional to contribute to a comprehensive local authority Welfare Rights Service. As a Welfare Rights Assistant, you will play a crucial role in encouraging the take-up of benefits, providing confidential advice on potential entitlement, and assisting with challenging decisions at various stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert knowledge of the social security benefits system to internal and external customers.
  • Assist with claims and appeals processes, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community groups and organizations to promote the Welfare Rights Service.
  • Conduct advocacy work to support vulnerable individuals and groups, promoting social justice and equality.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement strategies to improve benefit take-up and advice services.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of the social security benefits system.
  • Experience in the claims and appeals process.
  • Experience in advice giving and advocacy.
  • Well-developed advocacy skills.
  • Commitment to promoting social justice and equality.
