Join Our Team as a Consultant in Ophthalmology

This is an exciting opportunity to take up a Consultant position in our Ophthalmology department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust. Our department is dedicated to providing high-quality eye care services to our patients, and we are looking for a skilled and experienced Consultant to join our team.

About the Role
  • As a Consultant in Ophthalmology, you will be responsible for providing expert care to patients with a range of eye conditions, from routine check-ups to complex surgeries.
  • You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive the best possible care and treatment.
  • You will be expected to maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of ophthalmology and to share responsibility for the day-to-day management of the department.
  • You will have the opportunity to teach and train junior staff, as well as medical students within the University of Exeter Medical School.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME) and for covering colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
  • You will participate in medical audit, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes, and in continuing Professional Development.
  • You will have the opportunity to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional, or national levels.

Requirements
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Completion of a specialist training program in ophthalmology.
  • Experience in clinical audit and clinical governance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
