As the director for our product, you will develop a team of modellers, researchers, product managers, market experts, and sales executives to form the operating model for product growth. This high-priority role within Ricardo organisation requires someone with expert knowledge of the wholesale electricity and power market across Europe, experience in delivering and managing product businesses and KPIs/P&Ls, plus foundational knowledge of medium- to long-term projections modelling concepts and software.

We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as European Product Director, with a salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the strategic direction of our product business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will balance the delivery of subscription product commercial plans projects with leading, coaching, and inspiring teams of analysts and energy modellers to continuously exemplify Ricardo's values, improve their performance capability, and develop to their full potential.
  • You will develop a clear and detailed understanding of target and potential markets and customers, using this to define the medium- and long-term strategic direction of the product business. You will also oversee the implementation and management of multiple regions simultaneously, providing both internal and external stakeholders with the orientation they need to achieve business objectives.
  • You will have an expert understanding of the electricity and power markets, using this knowledge to create content and presence in the industry, gaining a reputation for thought leadership and furthering the growth of the subscription product.
  • You will independently contribute to building and deepening close customer and market relationships across Europe, using these to further the brand and reputation of the product and organisation. You will be the face of the brand, acting as the internal CEO of the product.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • You will demonstrate drive and passion to achieve the introduction, growth, and scaling of a new business, demonstrating commercial acumen to achieve business and product targets.
  • You have extensive experience in delivering complex products and/or services within the power sector and wholesale electricity markets.
  • You will have strong financial management skills, ensuring the various trade-offs between costs and revenue targets are managed and under control.
  • You'll be collaborative by nature and have an empathetic leadership style that demonstrates skill in inspiring, raising performance, and developing your teams.
  • You'll thrive on using your personal impact to create the highest quality products combining first-class analytics and modelling with clear presentation of insights.
  • You must be a native English speaker or be of mother-tongue level.
