Head of Information Governance and Assurance

This is a secondment/fixed-term position with an immediate start date from November.
About the RoleThe Head of Information Governance will provide leadership in Information Governance (IG) and the wider Information Assurance framework, serving as the prime source of expert advice and policy development. This role will create and maintain high-level awareness, profile, and understanding of the strategic and practical importance of IG, ensuring the Trust Board is assured that it is meeting its statutory and legal obligations.
Main Responsibilities- Lead the ongoing development of the information governance function across the Trust, ensuring compliance with statutory and legal requirements.
- Head the Information Governance Department, providing a single point of knowledge and expertise to advise the Trust Board and senior management teams on statutory and legal requirements in relation to Information Governance.
- Develop and implement comprehensive and coordinated work programs in areas such as Confidentiality, Data Protection, Information Assurance, Caldicott, IT Governance, Information Sharing, Access control mechanisms, and Freedom of Information.
- Masters or equivalent qualification.
- IT Security qualification.
- Prince2 or equivalent project management experience.
- Substantial experience in Information governance or a related field, including experience at a senior level.
- Practical implementation of GDPR/DPA and Information Governance Assurance.
- Experience of implementing organization-wide information governance strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Experience of cross-team and cross-discipline working.
- Experience of completion and submission of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit/CAF.
