Job Title: Nuclear Safety Inspector - Control and Instrumentation Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Inspector with expertise in Control and Instrumentation (C&I) systems to join our team at the Office for Nuclear Regulation. As a C&I specialist inspector, you will be responsible for assessing and inspecting the adequacy of C&I systems in nuclear facilities to ensure they meet safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and assessments of C&I systems in nuclear facilities to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the safety and integrity of C&I systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including nuclear site licensees, professional institutions, and other regulators, to develop standards and guidance for C&I systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to colleagues on C&I systems and safety integrity levels.
  • Participate in investigations and research projects to improve the understanding of C&I systems and their safety implications.

Requirements:

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent in a relevant field, such as engineering or physics.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution, such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
  • Experience in nuclear or high-hazard industries, with a focus on C&I systems and safety integrity levels.
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to assimilate and analyze complex technical information, with a focus on safety and risk assessment.
