Senior Medication Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Medication Safety Specialist to join our pharmacy team at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe use of medicines across our healthcare system.
A competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum is available for this challenging yet rewarding position. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including pharmacy teams, medical professionals, and nursing staff, to lead and develop our medication safety strategy.
Job Description:
- Medication Safety Strategy: Lead, develop, deliver, and evaluate the medication safety strategy for the Health Board in line with regional, local, and national directives.
- Medicines Shortages: Act as the lead Pharmacist for the management of medicines shortages to support the Principal Procurement Pharmacist and procurement Pharmacy Technicians across ABUHB to ensure robust supply chain.
- Clinical Impact: Support the Procurement Pharmacist and Divisional Pharmacists to manage clinical impact and safety implications of medication switches and policy amendments during a medicines shortage scenario through effective information dissemination to clinical teams.
- Incident Trend Analysis: Provide medication incident trend analysis and work with the ABUHB patient safety stakeholders to prepare improvement plans, prioritising actions that will lead to the greatest benefit and harm prevention to patients.
- Medicines Safety Agenda: Promote medicines safety agenda by leading on specific audits, intervention reports, and quality improvement projects.
- Support Staff: Provide support for Pharmacy, Medical, Nursing, and other staff on safety initiatives.
