About the Role
The OSB Group is seeking a skilled Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our Underwriting department, you will play a crucial role in assessing the risk of lending and protecting the Bank against potential losses.
About the Team
Our Underwriting team is dedicated to providing a high-quality service to brokers, solicitors, and customers. We take a common sense approach to manual underwriting, leveraging our strong market knowledge and diagnostic approach to make dependable decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate and progress mortgage applications to Completion, within the assigned mandate level, in line with the Bank's operating procedures and policies.
- Review and respond to all post-offer correspondence for long-term lending applications, ensuring timely completion and adherence to lending policy.
- Work collaboratively with the Completions team to ensure completion dates are met.
- Provide a high-quality service to brokers, solicitors, and customers, controlling the release of completion funds and ensuring customer funds reach solicitors in time for completion.
- Liaise with Legal & Compliance to ensure our interests are protected at all times.
- Communicate with intermediaries on declined cases, handle objections, and provide objective feedback to any questions.
- Manage escalations and resolve technical queries from other team members.

Requirements
- Knowledge of regulations for Commercial/Semi Comm/BTL mortgages.
- Previous experience in a mortgage administration or underwriting in Financial Services.
- Previous experience conducting solicitor audits and KPI management.
- Previous experience supervising & training staff.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular).
