Job Summary

BeeU Children and Young People's Mental Health Service is seeking a Psychologist to work in our Learning Disability team, providing support to young people presenting with behaviours of concern and/or mental health needs and their families. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to provide input to the Intensive Support Team working with children and young people with a Learning Disability and/or Autism presenting with behaviours that pose significant risks to themselves or others.

This is an exciting chance to join a highly motivated, committed multi-disciplinary team. The Psychologist will work alongside other psychologists, LD nurses, OT, SLT and support workers.

It is an exciting time to come and work in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin's Children, Young People and Families Services. We have received additional investment to improve the support available. As a result, we are pleased to be able to advertise a number of new roles both substantive and fixed-term posts. We can welcome clinicians who want to work in Children's Mental Health Services. Where people are interested in applying but would need to relocate, we can support with associated incentives. Where people are interested and passionate about working with children but have identified additional training, we may be able to train staff to develop the appropriate skills.

With a growing psychology team across BeeU we are able to provide a robust supervision structure and opportunities for continuing professional development.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To be part of the provision of a psychological service to children and young people with a Learning Disability and their families, within a multidisciplinary team and a multi-agency context.

  • To work with colleagues across the BeeU service offering consultation and providing support around psychological formulation.
  • To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service policies and procedures. In doing so, you will be responsible for adhering to relevant Trust policies and professional ethics and standards and will be accountable for professional and clinical actions.
