Senior Database Engineer

Barclays is seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer to lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
- Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management, and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
- Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Enforce technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
- Experience as a Principal Level Database Administrator, with a focus on PostgreSQL and similar database technologies such as Oracle or MS-SQL.
- Experience with DevOps automation tools such as code versioning (git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers and Kubernetes (OpenShift), database CI/CD tools and their implementation.
- Subject matter expert in PostgreSQL, serving as the highest level of technical escalation for complex database issues.
- Proven record of managing database engineering teams.
