Senior Database Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
  • Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management, and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
  • Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Enforce technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Principal Level Database Administrator, with a focus on PostgreSQL and similar database technologies such as Oracle or MS-SQL.
  • Experience with DevOps automation tools such as Code versioning (git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers, and Kubernetes (OpenShift).
  • Subject matter expert in PostgreSQL, serving as the highest level of technical escalation for complex database issues.
  • Proven record of managing database engineering teams.
  • Cloud experience, AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Experience in a financial environment.
  • Experience in system configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible for database server configurations.
  • Solid experience with scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation/migration tasks.
