NHS Wales Financial Management Graduate Programme

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our Financial Management Graduate Scheme. As a graduate trainee, you will have the opportunity to work across the breadth of the finance function, gaining valuable and varied experiences in areas such as financial management, business partnering, and financial planning.
The scheme is designed to develop the next generation of finance leaders, and you will work in complex, challenging environments in partnership with clinicians and other professionals. You will be supported through formal activities, opportunistic events, and guided by your Graduate Lead.
As a graduate trainee, you will be appointed to a finance role in one of our NHS Wales organisations for the duration of the scheme. You will rotate through a number of placements to gain experience and a solid grounding in all aspects of NHS finance. In addition, you will have the opportunity to study for an accredited professional accountancy qualification (ACCA) over 3 years and will be expected to achieve this qualification in order to graduate from the scheme.
The scheme will stretch you and give you the opportunity to develop your financial management and leadership skills. You will work in a collaborative and supportive environment, and you will be encouraged to take ownership of your learning and development.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Working in a finance role in one of our NHS Wales organisations
- Rotating through a number of placements to gain experience and a solid grounding in all aspects of NHS finance
- Studying for an accredited professional accountancy qualification (ACCA) over 3 years
- Developing financial management and leadership skills
Requirements for the role include:
- Education to degree level - minimum UK 2:2 or foreign equivalent
- Experience of building effective relationships and collaborative working within a team or group of people
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Numerical and finance skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload to deadlines and under time pressure
- Ability to analyse complex data and identify key issues from a range of difference sources
- Planning and organisational skills
- Able to work as part of a team
- Computer literate: good working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software; effective use of internet and email
- Has insight into own strengths and weaknesses
- Drive, initiative and ability to be proactive. Determination to deliver improvement and results
- Effective influencing and negotiation skills
