Job Title: Classroom Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in the classroom to ensure a child-centred learning experience
  • Support children with special educational needs in a formal learning environment
  • Use information technology systems to aid in the learning process
  • Work flexibly and creatively to meet the needs of children with special educational needs
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with children, teachers, and other staff members
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority
  • Have a minimum of six months' experience of working with children in a formal learning environment
  • Evidence of a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and/or C2K schools IT systems
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively to meet the needs of children with special educational needs
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven team working and collaborative skills
  • Effective planning and organising skills to ensure work is completed on time to the required standard
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a minimum of six months' experience working as a Classroom Assistant with children with special educational needs
  • Hold a qualification in paediatric first aid or be willing to complete the qualification upon appointment
  • Hold a qualification in basic food hygiene or be willing to complete the qualification upon appointment
