About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Controller to join our team at Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, providing strategic financial leadership and management expertise to support our objectives.

The Role

  • To lead and manage the finance function, delivering high-quality financial reporting and advice to inform business decisions.
  • Develop and implement effective financial processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Work closely with senior management to provide strategic financial guidance, supporting the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure seamless integration of financial planning and budgeting.
  • Lead by example, inspiring and developing a high-performing finance team driven by excellence, continuous improvement, and customer focus.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience of leading a finance team and managing budgets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-accountants.
  • Proven track record of implementing financial process improvements and achieving cost savings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local authority finance legislation and accounting standards.
  • Full/Part CIPFA, CCAB, or CIMA qualification.

Benefits

A competitive salary of £38,000-£43,000 per annum, depending on experience.

25 days annual leave plus 8 public bank holidays and 2 extra statutory days, pro rata.
