Job Title: Caretaker - Mobile Relief

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Caretaker to join our team on a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will work closely with our Local Authority partner in London to provide relief caretaking services across various estates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Estate Services Coordinator and Quality Assurance Officer, the Caretaker will liaise with management and staff at the Area Office to provide relief caretaking duties on various estates.
  • The Caretaker will work with other caretaking staff to carry out tasks identified by supervisors or managers on various estates.
  • Assisting managers or supervisors in the distribution of stores and equipment, including loading and unloading estate services vehicles.
  • Completing daily management control information and other documentation as required.
  • Keeping records of complaints made by tenants and reporting cases of fire, burglary, flood, and other important incidents to the Area Office/Housing Department as necessary.
  • Reporting contravening of tenancy regulations by tenants.

Requirements:

  • A reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Some experience of cleaning or caretaking duties (paid/unpaid).

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to carry out cleaning duties working alone or within teams.
  • Ability to deal with complaints of disrepair.
  • Ability to negotiate a congenial paired working arrangement with an assigned caretaker, where arrangements are in line with service needs and meet management approval.
  • Ability to react to and deal with emergency situations, e.g. fire, flood, and lift breakdowns.
  • Ability to supply brief reports on background and action taken in respect of emergencies or unusual occurrences.

  • Candidates should be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • Candidates should have the right to work in the U.K.
  • This role requires a basic DBS.
