Job Title: Supportive Learning Assistant

Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Contract Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Supportive Learning Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a Supportive Learning Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex learning difficulties and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support and interventions to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom
  • Implement strategies to support positive behaviour management and de-escalate challenging situations
  • Liaise with the SENCO and other school leaders to follow Education Health Care Plan objectives to ensure outcomes are met
  • Assist students with SEMH needs in accessing the curriculum and completing academic tasks
  • Work closely with classroom teachers, SENCO, and other relevant staff to coordinate support and interventions for students
  • Attend relevant training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with SEMH needs

Requirements:

  • Must hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs in a school or similar setting for at least 6 months
  • Understanding of SEMH-related challenges and appropriate strategies for intervention and support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
