Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Assistant to join our team. As a General Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining a high standard of quality work, ensuring the smooth running of our operations, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure awareness and adherence to legal and company requirements for fire, safety, health, and hygiene.
  • Report health and safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist in food production areas with basic food preparation.
  • Ensure service equipment and menu accompaniments are available prior to service.
  • Serve customers with hot and cold food and beverages during service times.
  • Inform Chef/Manager of menu shortages to ensure a quick and efficient service.
  • Maintain displays, counters, and seating areas in accordance with company and statutory health and hygiene requirements.
  • Assist with hospitality and deliveries, including storing, rotating, stock taking, and temperature checks.
  • Clean work areas during and after use, and remove waste to the appropriate area.
  • Be aware of daily menu content and tariff changes when handling till duties.
  • Receive, store, and check stock for quality and quantity, ensuring all areas are fully stocked.
  • Assist in the kitchen and pot wash area as needed.
  • Be prepared to assist colleagues in a willing and positive manner, including assisting with other duties as required.
  • Adhere to cash handling procedures, where applicable.
  • Acquire a good knowledge of products to advise customers on their choice.
Requirements
  • Awareness of food and hygiene standards.
  • Passion for care, with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, individually and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meet business needs.
  • Confidence working in a care home environment.
  • No prior experience as a General Assistant is necessary; we value pride in work and a willingness to learn and go the extra mile for our residents.
