Job Title: Software Development Support Officer

The University of Glasgow is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Support Officer to join our team in the School of Health and Wellbeing. As a key member of our Software Development Group, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our world-leading software for automated electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of software for ECG analysis, focusing on Machine Learning techniques.
  • Maintain, test, and debug program code to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze experimental results related to ECG interpretation and assist in preparing results for scientific publications.
  • Review systems and processes for improvement and recommend revised diagnostic approaches.
  • Stay up-to-date with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence developments in ECG interpretation and advise team members accordingly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external parties to develop novel software for diagnostic methods.
  • Participate in the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and contribute to the overall IT team culture.
Requirements:
  • Essential qualifications: A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9 in mathematics, computing science, or a science-related subject, and extensive knowledge of a high-level programming language.
  • Desirable qualifications: An understanding of signal processing, knowledge of database design, and experience with web-based applications.
Skills:
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high professional standards.
  • Teamwork and communication skills.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to apply existing knowledge to new areas.
Experience:
  • Relevant experience in software development, ideally in a language such as C.
  • Experience in writing software user documentation and providing user training.
