Job Title: Child Mental Health Practitioner - Specialist CAMHS

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our Specialist CAMHS team in West Wales. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with children and young people, their families, and other professionals to provide high-quality care and support.

About the Role

As a Child Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing and developing care packages for individuals under your care. You will work under the Mental Health Measures and undertake the Care and Treatment Plan (CTP) role for those young people who require ongoing support. You will also provide psychological-based therapies under the CAPA model, undertaking Choice and Partnership sessions with children and adolescents who have been accepted into Specialist CAMHS services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and develop care packages for individuals under your care
  • Work under the Mental Health Measures and undertake the Care and Treatment Plan (CTP) role
  • Provide psychological-based therapies under the CAPA model
  • Undertake Choice and Partnership sessions with children and adolescents
  • Work closely with children and young people, their families, and other professionals to provide high-quality care and support
Requirements
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Nurse Learning Disability or equivalent qualification with NMC
  • Good record of Continuing Professional Development to postgraduate diploma level
  • Knowledge of Local and National developments in relation to Specialist CAMHS
  • Knowledge of child protection, Children Act issues, and other relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of legislation and national developments in respect of Children Looked after
  • Recognised therapeutic qualification and accreditation (e.g., Family Therapy, CBT, CAT)
  • Experience of working in mental health, including with children and young people with serious mental health problems
  • Experience of working with the Choice and Partnership approach (CAPA)
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary setting and working with different professional disciplines involved in the provision of children and young people's health, education, and social care
