We power, cool, protect, and connect the technology of the world's well-known hyperscalers, cloud providers, and large enterprises. Developing and operating across North America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific, Vantage has evolved data center design in innovative ways to deliver dramatic gains in reliability, efficiency, and sustainability in flexible environments that can scale as quickly as the market demands.

Reliability Engineering, Automation Team

The Reliability Engineering Team ensures Vantage Data Centers are the best in class for availability and reliability in the industry to enable our customers to operate their business with full confidence in our operational capabilities.

To be successful, we must ensure the overall health of all critical systems across Vantage global facilities and ensure the staff operating these facilities are trained to the highest standard.

Role Overview

As the Manager of Automation Operations for the EMEA region, you will play a crucial role in leading the development and optimization of automation systems within Vantage facilities. Your focus will be on enhancing the quality, robustness, and consistency of Building Management System (BMS) Controls Systems in Operational Data Centers. By managing our control systems, you contribute directly to our business success and that of our customers. Your work will prevent excursions that could lead to contractual penalties triggered by Service Level Agreement (SLA) breaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership:
  • Grow, develop, and manage the Automation Operations team in the EMEA region.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, working on-site, both locally and globally, during project design, construction, and operational phases.
  • BMS Controls Management:
  • Support the commissioning and maintenance of BMS Controls Packages across all buildings in EMEA.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve critical control systems issues during incidents, collaborating with the Site Operations Team(s).
  • Ensure timely resolution of BMS-related issues in Operational Buildings through effective consultant management.
  • Implement industry best practices for BMS maintenance across EMEA Data Centers.
  • Operational Support:
  • Handle on-call escalations, change management, and maintenance requests impacting the BMS/BAS (Building Automation System) in all Vantage-operated buildings.
  • Coordinate integration support schedules, allowing sufficient time for programming, testing, and commissioning of mission-critical control systems.
  • Collaboration and Project Execution
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from Design Engineering, IT, and Construction teams during projects.
  • Work closely with the Site Operations team to sustain existing automation architecture.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition from the Delivery Automation team to the Operations Automation team.
  • Ensure a comprehensive system handover process, including documentation and knowledge transfer, prior to successful handover.
  • Execute integration-related projects in live and operational facilities.

Duties

  • Quality Standards: Drive the implementation of rigorous quality standards for all aspects of automation delivery, from initial concept to final commissioning and handover.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continually evolve automation systems to enhance efficiency, productivity, and optimize specifications for building automation design and development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline).
  • Proven experience in managing automation systems, preferably within data center environments.
  • Strong understanding of BMS Controls Systems and their impact on operational efficiency.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot critical control system issues.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across teams and regions.

If you're passionate about driving innovation, optimizing automation, and ensuring robust operations, we encourage you to apply. At Vantage, we value diverse backgrounds and believe that skills and experience are transferrable. Let's shape the future together.

We operate with No Ego and No Arrogance. We work to build each other up and support one another, appreciating each other's strengths and respecting each other's weaknesses. We offer a comprehensive suite of health and welfare, retirement, and paid leave benefits exceeding local expectations.

Throughout the year, the advantage of being part of the Vantage team is evident with an array of benefits, recognition, training, and development, and the knowledge that your contribution adds value to the company and our community.
