Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Education Assistant to join our team at a secondary school in the Carmarthen area. The successful candidate will provide general cover in the classroom and support teaching staff when needed.

About the Role

The role involves delivering lessons where the work has been set by the teacher, ensuring positive behaviour management in accordance with school policies, and supporting pupils who are having difficulty in completing their work.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor or delivering lessons in secondary schools, although we welcome applicants from anyone with transferrable skills or experience of supporting young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lesson Delivery: Delivering lessons where the work has been set by the teacher, including providing instructions, monitoring student progress, and maintaining a safe learning environment.
  • Behaviour Management: Ensuring positive behaviour management in accordance with school policies, using strategies to promote good behaviour and manage challenging situations.
  • Pupil Support: Supporting pupils who are having difficulty in completing their work, offering individualised support and encouragement to help them succeed.
  • Relationship Building: Developing strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a positive learning environment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor or delivering lessons in secondary schools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Salary Estimate

We estimate the salary for this role to be between £90-£120 per day, depending on experience and responsibilities.
