Senior Process Safety Engineer

Our client, a leading consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their UK-wide operations. As a key member of their Technical/Process Safety team, you will lead and support on a range of projects, develop junior engineers, and enhance your own technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of safety commissions and enhance our client's capabilities.
  • Support external clients and their ongoing operations within high-hazard industries such as Oil & Gas, Low Carbon, and Renewables.
  • Conduct consultancy safety scopes, including QRA, Formal Safety Assessments, COMAH, and other relevant techniques.
  • Lead junior engineers on projects and provide technical guidance and mentoring support.
  • Project engineering to ensure studies and projects are delivered in compliance with agreed scope, budgets, and schedules.
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and other risk assessment workshops.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering (or related) subject.
  • Experience working in Process/Technical Safety, preferably in the Energy industry.
  • Experience in risk and safety management.
  • Experience leading work scopes to meet delivery/cost targets without compromising quality.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of QRA and other safety techniques, including consequence analysis (preferably PHAST software).
  • Familiar with relevant legislation and industry standards, such as COMAH, DSEAR, Safety Case Regulations, etc.
  • Experience in a client-facing role, showing an understanding of commercial challenges relevant to a consultancy business.
