Position Overview

This role is for a Healthcare Support Specialist within Sentara Medical Group, where you will be an integral part of the healthcare team. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting healthcare professionals in delivering quality patient care.

Qualifications Required:
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - Certification from American Medical Technologists (AMT) or
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic - Certification from National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - Certification from National Healthcare Association (NHA) or
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Advanced - Certification from National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or
  • Paramedic Certification
Key Responsibilities:

As a Healthcare Support Specialist, you will:

  • Assist in patient intake by preparing examination rooms and gathering patient information.
  • Measure and record vital signs, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Support physicians by preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance patient care and service delivery.

Job Summary

In this role, you will perform both patient care and administrative tasks under the guidance of healthcare professionals. A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare environment or as an EMT, Paramedic, or Corpsman is preferred. Familiarity with electronic medical records and phlebotomy skills are advantageous. Certification as a Medical Assistant or equivalent is mandatory, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within a specified timeframe after hiring.
