Job Summary

As a Medical Assistant with Sentara, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform patient care and administrative tasks, including phlebotomy, clinical procedures, and clerical duties, under the direction of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care and efficient administrative processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to patient inquiries and concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Sentara's standards.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance clinical and administrative skills, staying current with industry developments and best practices.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; minimum one year experience in a healthcare setting or as an EMT, Paramedic, and/or Corpsman preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience and proficiency with electronic medical records a plus.
  • Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic) certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
