About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team at The Sidcup Care Home. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our care home, providing a safe and comfortable environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repair tasks to a high standard, minimizing disruption to residents and visitors.
  • Contribute to the management of the maintenance budget, taking the lead as necessary.
  • Perform ad-hoc internal decoration of accessible areas, maintaining a high standard of finish.
  • Report unrepairable defects to management, escalating or seeking specialist repair if required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety checks, policies, and guidelines at all times.
  • Work on call as required to support the care home outside of hours.

Requirements

  • A full driving license is essential for this role.
  • A building, electrical, or plumbing qualification, or a minimum of 3 years' experience in property maintenance or general repairs.
  • Previous experience in a site management role and managing consultants, contractors, and suppliers would be advantageous.
  • Friendly and approachable, with a good understanding of building services, including heating, hot and cold-water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution, and plumbing.
  • Able to work flexibly to meet demands and happy to help the wider team.
