About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Kleboe Jardine Ltd. as a permanent member. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our scientific team in testing products and services, ensuring reliable and consistent outputs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cell-Based Assay Optimization: The Biomedical Scientist will be responsible for optimizing and running cell-based assays, including viability, cell counts, apoptosis, cytotoxicity, ELISA, DNA/RNA extractions, PCR, and RT-PCR.
  • Sample Preparation and Analysis: The candidate will prepare samples for flow cytometry and perform FACS analysis, as well as report results of QC assays and raise issues as they arise.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: The Biomedical Scientist will be responsible for maintaining standard QC SOPs, preparing and shipping samples and plates to outsourced providers and clients, and inputting into the preparation and review of Certificates of Analysis.
  • Drug Testing and Development: The candidate will assist with drug testing, including creation and execution of dosing plans and data reviews, as well as inputting into the development of new in-house assays to meet client needs and expand our offering.
  • Inventory Management and Reporting: The Biomedical Scientist will maintain up-to-date inventory of frozen samples and keep the Electronic Lab Notebook (Benchling) updated, creating reports as required.
  • Quality Measures and Standards: The candidate will assist with the implementation of new quality measures and standards, as well as devise and contribute to internal development projects to advance our offering.
  • Protocol and SOP Development: The Biomedical Scientist will contribute to the writing of protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years' experience performing assays in an industry setting, working to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in a quality environment such as GLP/GMP.
  • Skills: Demonstrable experience of performing DNA/RNA extractions, flow cytometry, PCR, RT-PCR, ELISA, and 3D cell culture. Proficient in using MS Office packages, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong communication and organization skills, with a diligent approach to data recording.
  • Education and Training: A degree in a relevant field, such as biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Desirable Criteria
  • Histology Techniques: Experience in histology techniques, including sample processing, microtomy, cryotomy, H&E staining, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Oncology Knowledge: Strong oncology knowledge, including markers and related areas.
  • Genetic and Bioinformatics Data Analysis: Experience in analyzing patient databases, genetic, and bioinformatics data.
  • Liquid Handling Robotics: Experience using or programming liquid handling robotics.
