Central Sterile Services Technician

Care New England Health System is seeking a skilled Central Sterile Services Technician to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, and processing surgical instruments and equipment while maintaining accurate records and adhering to infection control protocols.

About the Role:

  • This position requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication and collaboration.
  • Experience in Surgical Services is preferred, and the ideal candidate will hold the HSPA CRCST certification.
  • A high school degree or equivalent is required, and proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary for effective communication and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Decontaminate, clean, inspect, process, and assemble surgical instrumentation for the Operating Room, Sterile Processing area, and durable patient care equipment.
  2. Operate pre-vacuum/gravity steam sterilizers, washer/decontaminators, automatic endoscope reprocessors, and perform high-level disinfection.
  3. Test sterilizers and maintain accurate records, visualizing all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and wear before assembly.
  4. Assemble instrument trays and equipment according to assembly count sheets, wrapping or peeling items as needed.
  5. Collaborate with Supply Chain to organize supplies systematically for each surgical case and check for add-on surgeries.
  6. Maintain and distribute sterile supplies, crash carts, pediatric crash carts, intubation trays, and other essential items throughout the hospital.
  7. Adhere to federal and state regulations, AAMI, OSHA, and infection control policies and procedures.
  8. Participate in process improvement initiatives and provide additional support as needed.

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience.
