About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with learning disabilities and complex healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and evidence-based care.
  • Assist with cooking, shopping, and cleaning tasks as required within the unit.
  • Monitor and record patients' clinical observations, as necessary.
  • Assist with patient nutritional requirements, including artificial feeding and supporting individuals with dysphagia issues.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records, in accordance with current legal requirements.
  • Support individuals to access community facilities, as required.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records, in accordance with NCH&C policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Participate in the risk assessment and review process, as required.
  • Cooperate with other disciplines to maximize patient care provision.
  • Maintain good relationships and an empathetic approach to patients, carers, and relatives.
  • Have a clear understanding of CQC outcomes and contribute to ensuring these are achieved.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining up-to-date practice through attendance and active participation at staff meetings, supervision sessions, and mandatory training.
  • Assist with data collection and audit, as required.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to the role to meet the needs of the service.
Requirements
  • 3 GCSEs A-C equivalent, including English.
  • Ability to speak and write English to an appropriate standard to fulfill the job requirements.
  • NVQ level 2 in a relevant subject area.
  • Experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Demonstrate a clear insight into the role.
  • Effective communication skills, including non-verbal skills.
  • Commitment to supporting individuals with learning disabilities to be as independent as they are able to and promoting choice.
  • Good observational skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Adaptive to change.
  • Ability to work under pressure in an ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to work at times without direct supervision.
