Key Responsibilities- Provide support to nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and evidence-based care.
- Assist with cooking, shopping, and cleaning tasks as required within the unit.
- Monitor and record patients' clinical observations, as necessary.
- Assist with patient nutritional requirements, including artificial feeding and supporting individuals with dysphagia issues.
- Contribute to the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records, in accordance with current legal requirements.
- Support individuals to access community facilities, as required.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records, in accordance with NCH&C policy.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in the risk assessment and review process, as required.
- Cooperate with other disciplines to maximize patient care provision.
- Maintain good relationships and an empathetic approach to patients, carers, and relatives.
- Have a clear understanding of CQC outcomes and contribute to ensuring these are achieved.
- Take responsibility for maintaining up-to-date practice through attendance and active participation at staff meetings, supervision sessions, and mandatory training.
- Assist with data collection and audit, as required.
- Maintain a flexible approach to the role to meet the needs of the service.
- 3 GCSEs A-C equivalent, including English.
- Ability to speak and write English to an appropriate standard to fulfill the job requirements.
- NVQ level 2 in a relevant subject area.
- Experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
- Demonstrate a clear insight into the role.
- Effective communication skills, including non-verbal skills.
- Commitment to supporting individuals with learning disabilities to be as independent as they are able to and promoting choice.
- Good observational skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated.
- Adaptive to change.
- Ability to work under pressure in an ever-changing environment.
- Ability to work at times without direct supervision.
