Key Responsibilities- Operational management of primary care provision at HMP Aylesbury
- Clinical leadership in primary care and public health
- Deputising for the Head of Healthcare when required
- Ensuring the highest quality, evidence-based service is provided
- Coordinating healthcare provision across the whole prison establishment
- Managing the service within allocated resources
- Developing and evaluating healthcare provision through effective leadership and partnership working
- Leading on other portfolio responsibilities connected to the development of the service
- Responsibility for security within the healthcare facility and other areas of practice within the prison
- Responsibility for prisoner care as a specialist healthcare practitioner for primary care and public health
- Management of the primary care team, including staff employed by different provider organisations or those working through contract management arrangements
- Registered General Nurse
- Management qualifications
- Evidence of continuous professional development, practice teaching, mentoring
- Degree-level qualification
- Non-medical prescriber qualification (desirable)
- Masters-level qualification (desirable)
- Significant professional experience in primary care
- Experience working at Band 7 Nurse
- Experience of supervising staff
- Experience of joint working with other agencies
- Experience of working in secure settings
- Experience of developing policies and procedures
- Knowledge of chronic disease and long-term condition management
- Knowledge of the principles of best value/clinical governance
- Knowledge of current developments and practice
- Knowledge of physical health checks required within a prison setting
- Good communicator with competent presenting skills
- Able to provide clinical leadership and contribute to strategic direction
- Thorough understanding and commitment to operating and promoting equality of opportunity in relation to service users and employees
- Willing and able to work flexibly, in terms of the requirements of the role, working hours, and place of employment
