About the Role:

Academics Ltd is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team in a Primary School in Croydon. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring Educational Psychologist to gain hands-on experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN or behavioural difficulties
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Help students engage in classroom activities and develop positive learning habits
  • Support students' emotional, social, and academic development
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Contribute to the observation and assessment of students, working with the school's SENCO to develop tailored strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour management and support students in regulating emotions

Requirements:
  • A degree in Psychology or a related field, or someone currently working towards becoming an Educational Psychologist
  • A genuine interest in supporting children with SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and behavioural difficulties
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with children
