About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust. As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will play a critical role in supporting children and young people with communication disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of children with communication difficulties, providing specialist clinical input and advice to ensure effective treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with youth offending staff, partner agencies, and other professionals to develop and implement interventions that address the communication needs of young people.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with health services, BYOS staff, and partner agencies to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Provide training and support to BYOS staff and partner agencies to raise awareness of communication difficulties and strategies for facilitating communication.
  • Contribute to the development of services and interventions that address the communication needs of young people, including the development of EHCPs and annual reviews.
  • Undertake supervision and appraisals for SLTs and Support Practitioners, and provide support and guidance to newly and recently graduated SLT staff.
Requirements
  • Recognized degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council and membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with communication disorders, including those with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of legislation around SEND and its relevance to youth offending, as well as national policies and procedures that affect local practice.
  • Established knowledge of clinical disorders, assessments, and therapeutic interventions in SLT, including a broad range of SLT clinical assessment tools relevant to adolescents and young people who offend.
