Job Title: Environment Policy and Programme Lead

Job Summary:

The Greater London Authority (GLA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environment Policy and Programme Lead to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing environmental policies and programmes that promote sustainability and reduce carbon emissions in London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of environmental policies and programmes that align with the Mayor of London's ambition to make London a zero-carbon city by 2030.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including international organisations, government departments, and private sector companies, to identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including London Boroughs, functional bodies, and other organisations in the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
  • Provide advice and support to the Mayor and his staff, senior managers, and other stakeholders on environmental and energy matters.
  • Source and manage consultants and contractors to carry out relevant work in accordance with GLA procedures and policies.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of working in partnership with multi-stakeholder groups to deliver shared goals.
  • Experience of managing and delivering high-value environmental projects and programmes, with a track record of contract management and delivering results on target and within budget.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret environmental and energy issues in relation to urban areas, their causes, effects, and possible solutions.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present information and arguments clearly and convincingly to a range of audiences.
