About the Role
L&S Waste Management is seeking an experienced Traffic Planner to join our team at our Head Office in Fareham, Hampshire. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and routing our drivers' work to ensure efficient and effective delivery of our services.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare daily work sheets for drivers
- Arrange daily driver allocation to vehicles suited to their abilities
- Ensure vehicles are routed and operated effectively and efficiently
- Liaise with depots to maintain stock levels of incoming and outgoing material/skips/ready mixed concrete
- Communicate with drivers throughout the working day
- Resolve driver problems or queries as they arise
- Reschedule work as necessary to cover driver absence or vehicle breakdowns
- Register and arrange delivery/collection of asbestos-related jobs
- Implement the Tructyre/Service Centre Wheel Removal process
- Follow weekly maintenance instructions from the Transport department to ensure 'O' licence compliance
- Maintain control of the outstanding container report
- Deal with customer queries or problems
- Take and process customer orders on the ISYS/Weighsoft system
- Liaise with Sales Advisors, Sales Office Manager, Transport & Plant Manager, Assistant Transport Manager, Driver Foremen/Trainers, and Operations Managers
- Ensure the traffic office operation is run efficiently and effectively
- Ensure compliance with all current and impending legislation
- Perform general office administration and support other team members
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone manner
- Good geographical knowledge and understanding of the routing process
- Good attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information
- Good organisation, communication, and IT skills
- Ability to multi-task and use own initiative
- Working knowledge of ISYS/Weighsoft or a similar system
- Experience of working in a busy and fast-paced environment
- Ability to remain calm and patient when under pressure
- Reliable, flexible, and adaptable
- Positive, motivated, conscientious, and pro-active
What We Offer
- Salary £37,711 pa
- 25 days holiday, plus 8 bank holidays in a full holiday year (calculated on a pro rata basis), increasing to 27 days holiday plus bank holidays after 5 years' service, and to 30 days holiday plus bank holidays after 10 years' service
