Theological Advisor to the Church of England

The Church of England is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Deputy Theological Adviser. This position will be based in Central London and will require regular attendance at Church House and Lambeth Palace.
Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity to join the Faith and Public Life (FPL) team, which leads the church's national work on ethics, public policy, and relationships beyond the Church of England. As a key member of the Theology Team, you will work closely with the Secretary for Theology and Theological Adviser to the House of Bishops to support a major national advisory committee, provide high-level theological advice to the national Church, and contribute to other areas of the work of FPL.
You will have a proven ability to think and write clearly, analytically, strategically, and creatively on complex issues, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and oral presentational ability. A doctoral degree or equivalent in theology or an area related to theology is required, and you must be a communicant member of the Church of England.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the Theology Team's work with the National Ecumenical Adviser and the Council for Christian Unity
- Support the Faith and Order Commission (FAOC)
- Provide high-level theological advice to the House and College of Bishops
We offer a competitive salary of £46,577 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. You will also receive 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days within 5 years), eight bank holidays, and three additional days (pro-rated if working part-time).
