About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Control Room Manager to lead our team in maximising control room efficiency and productivity, ensuring safety, compliance, security, and people development. This role involves developing relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders, as well as role modelling our principles, to support the overall business strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Control Room, including 4 Control Team Leaders and 4 shift teams, in achieving operational targets and metrics.
  • Direct and drive a performance management culture within the team, ensuring staff meet their targets and have regular engagement with line managers.
  • Drive operational efficiency and productivity in the Control Room through continuous improvement and development opportunities.
  • Manage recruitment for the Control Room, carrying out interviews, providing meaningful feedback, ensuring equal opportunities, and overseeing induction, onboarding, and training.
  • Develop succession plans for the Control Room with the Control Team Leaders.
  • Cultivate your team through coaching, mentoring, providing feedback, and collaborating with the People team.
  • Establish a proactive mid-long-term plan for the Control Room, considering training needs, business requirements, systems, and operational efficiencies.
  • Oversee employee relations for the Control Room, adhering to legislation, policies, procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Work with the Operations management team to achieve and sustain terminal operational targets and metrics.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by leading, improving, and engaging with Health, Safety, Environment, and Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide reporting and data insights into Control Room operations.

 

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working in Container Terminals to understand issues that arise and how to resolve them efficiently.
  • A proven track record of effective management in fast-moving operational businesses.
  • Strong Health & Safety knowledge and ability to work in a safety-critical environment.
  • Demonstrable proactive, people management, and leadership experience.
  • Excellent systems and IT knowledge and ability.
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively at all departmental levels, presenting clear and concise reports/presentations.
  • Demonstrable experience of proactive problem-solving and innovation, driving operational efficiency.
  • Ability to work with resilience and positivity under pressure and in a fast-paced, changeable environment.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 AUD per annum, depending on experience. Additional benefits include access to professional development opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and a supportive team environment.
