Senior Care Assistant Job Description

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional care to our residents? Do you have a caring and nurturing attitude, with excellent people skills and a positive outlook? We are seeking a Senior Care Assistant to join our team at South Moor Lodge Care Home, where you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional care and support to our residents, promoting their independence, dignity, and well-being.
  • Lead your shift team to ensure high standards are maintained, and other team members feel supported.
  • Complete daily medication rounds and document accurately, ensuring consistency and attention to detail.
  • Promote good practice in all aspects of care, challenging poor practice from other team members.
  • Ensure one-to-ones for all care and support team members are conducted every two months, and investigate complaints and concerns as directed by the Home Manager.

Requirements:

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., Registered Nurse or NVQ minimum level 3).
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Care Assistant in a residential or nursing home setting.
  • Awareness of the principles of Person-Centred Care Planning.
  • Knowledge of the prevention of abuse of vulnerable adults, recognition of the signs of abuse, and procedures to follow in the event of an allegation of abuse.
  • Live within 30 minutes of the Home.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Two years' experience in a similar role in a nursing home.
  • At least One year's experience working in a similar role in a residential or nursing home; or
  • At least Two years' experience in a Senior Care role in a residential or nursing home
  • One year experience of caring for residents living with dementia
  • NVQ Level 4 in Adult Health and Social Care or above
  • Knowledge of National Care Standards Act 2000
  • Conducting effective person-centred One-to-Ones
  • Experience of managing a team
