A company in Stafford, UK is seeking a Mechanical Stress Engineer to join their engineering team working on the design and development of light helicopters. With extensive financial backing and a growing order book, they are expanding their team and require mechanical stress engineers to contribute to the success of their projects.

The role offers an excellent opportunity to work on highly innovative projects using skills and experience to deliver iconic aircraft to the global market. As a mechanical stress engineer, you will drive current and future aircraft & gas turbine engine programmes forward, working with an engineering team to develop aircraft and engine components.

About the Role:

  • Create detailed mechanical models to analyse aircraft components and sub-systems using analysis methods ranging from initial scoping calculations to 2D and 3D FEA models.
  • Build and analyse mechanical models of static and rotating components using 2D and 3D FEA.
  • Work closely with the design team to optimise performance and integrity of mechanical components across the platform.
  • Conduct technical assessments of component life and integrity through the design phase, into testing, verification, validation, certification, and in-service support.
  • Perform LCF and HCF lifing of components.
  • Conduct crack propagation and damage tolerance assessments of critical parts.

Requirements:

  • BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with relevant mechanical analysis experience.
  • FEA mechanical analysis experience.
  • Good understanding of transient thermal loads in hot components and load interactions.
  • Experience in rig testing and verification is desirable.
  • Experience with damage tolerance assessments is desirable.
  • Team-oriented, problem-solving attitude.

Salary and Benefits:

The company offers a competitive salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, along with an attractive benefits package including health insurance, pension scheme, and generous holiday allowance.
