We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Specialist to join our team at Matchtech. As an Aerospace and Defence supplier, we are looking for someone with expertise in mechanical engineering calculations, stress analysis, and fluid dynamics.

About the Role

This is a 6-month initial contract opportunity based in Brighton. The successful candidate will work closely with lead engineers and senior designers to produce design schemes and proposals under their guidance.

  • Conduct mechanical engineering calculations, stress analysis, and fluid dynamics using FEA and CFD tools.
  • Develop innovative conceptual solutions and design proposals that meet specifications and guide other engineers and designers in producing detailed CAD layouts and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Create technical reports and project documentation.
  • Calculate first-order strength and performance of design solutions.
  • Check design drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Production Engineering to ensure optimal production methods and materials for economic manufacture.
Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A good understanding of geometric tolerancing, stack-up analysis, BS8888, limits/fits.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • A solid grasp of design office practices, drawing issue, and change processes.
  • Ability to design products with low costs from the outset (DFMA & Design to Cost methodologies).
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills in conjunction with Project Management.
  • Good understanding of design requirements to ensure designs meet contracted specifications.
Estimated Salary

We offer a competitive salary of £35,000-£45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
