About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Governance Framework Specialist to join our team at Plymouth University. As a key member of our Governance and Compliance team, you will play a critical role in supporting the effective operation of our governance framework and ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality secretariat services to the Board and its committees, including supporting the Chair of the Board and ensuring the efficient running of all Board and committee meetings.
  • Review and monitor internal governance processes and procedures, carrying out routine periodic reviews of key documentation, including the University Byelaws and the Schedule of Delegation.
  • Contribute to the development of the University's governance framework and practices, making recommendations and implementing change via your willingness to identify sector best practice, engage and build your external networks, and develop your knowledge and expertise in relation to governance within higher education.
  • Support compliance with a range of statutory and regulatory duties related to higher education governance, including the Board's obligations in relation to the Office for Students.
  • Enable effective working relationships between Board members and the University Executive Group through your excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding attention to detail, and exceptional organisational skills.
What You'll Need
  • Experience of providing support and advice to senior teams and ideally experience of working with Boards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including Board members, University Executive Group, and external partners.
