Job Description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant: SEN Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team as a SEN Support Specialist. The successful candidate will provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support students with SEN in 1:1, group, or whole-class situations, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Assist in the development of appropriate resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies to support students with SEN.
  • Evaluate students' progress and provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on their achievement, progress, and needs.
  • Lead small group sessions and interventions to support students with SEN.
  • Attend to students' personal needs, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters.
  • Support with behavior management and contribute to a purposeful and supportive learning environment.
  • Undertake structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programs, adjusting activities to ensure achievement of learning goals.
  • Assist with the supervision of students out of lesson times, such as playtime and lunchtime duty.
  • Establish good relationships with students, acting as a role model and promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all students.
  • Support students with their learning and development in areas such as literacy, numeracy, Key Stage, and/or subject-specific.
  • Encourage students to interact with others and engage in activities.
  • Prepare and clear the classroom, assisting with the display of students' work.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and resources and support students in their use.
  • Undertake record-keeping and establish and maintain positive relationships with parents/carers.
  • Provide general administrative support.
