**Job Title:** Hospital Activities Coordinator

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Hospital Activities Coordinator to join our team at Sturdee Community Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for leading and encouraging patients to participate in meaningful activities, promoting their independence, choice, and dignity.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Lead and encourage patients to join in activities that promote their independence, choice, and dignity.
  • Create a stimulating and varied programme of leisure activities and social events for patients to enjoy.
  • Work with each new patient to understand their likes, dislikes, abilities, and needs to develop an individual leisure-based plan.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate activities for active daily living for each patient individually and in groups, taking into account individual risk assessments.
  • Work closely with the Occupational Therapy team to ensure effective planning and resource management.
  • Plan and organize an activities programme that maintains interest and progression over time.
  • Identify the needs of the collective group and individuals and tailor activities to suit.
  • Observe care planning needs for patients and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to MDT discussions on the well-being of patients.
  • Escort patients travelling to and from activities.
  • Participate in the creation and review of risk assessments for levels of activity.

**Requirements:**

  • 6-months experience as an Activities Coordinator or 1 year working as an experienced Senior Support Worker/Healthcare Assistant.
  • Some experience of working in a hospital with people with diagnosed mental health conditions.
  • Awareness of the Mental Health Act.
  • Experience of severe and complex challenging behaviour.
  • A resilient nature and the ability to work alone as well as in a team of healthcare professionals.
  • The ability to work on a shift/rota pattern.
  • The right to work in the UK.

**About the Service:**

Sturdee Community Hospital offers a flexible environment designed to support each patient's progress along their rehab pathway. We provide a holistic service for women between 18-65 with complex mental health needs that include personality disorder, serious and enduring mental illness, co-morbidity, and a history of complex trauma.

**Job Types:** Full-time, Permanent

**Salary:** £11.50 per hour

**Expected hours:** 40 per week to include some weekend work
