We are seeking a skilled and motivated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out essential tests to support the work of medical and nursing staff in the Eye Department.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe Ophthalmic Technician will be involved in enhancing the patient's pathway from referral to treatment through the Ophthalmology Outpatient department. Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out visual acuity and field testing
- Operating OCT (Ocular Coherence Tomographer) equipment
- Supporting the work of clinical staff and nursing teams
- Developing skills to support the patient's pathway from referral to treatment
The ideal candidate will possess:
- GCSE in English and Maths (or equivalent skill level)
- Previous experience within a healthcare setting, preferably in ophthalmic care
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
