BAND 6 DEVELOPMENTAL ROLE
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, reliable and motivated Orthoptist to join our team of 6 Orthoptists and 5 Optometrists within a busy Ophthalmology department. Duties include paediatric and adult orthoptic clinics as well as an emphasis on developing specialist services such as those for patients with learning difficulties. Close working with the extended team of Consultants, Specialty and Junior Doctors, Nurses, Ophthalmic Technicians and Administrative staff will be integral to the role.
This post will be paid at a band 5 level until you have successfully completed the programme at which point you will move onto the Band 6 pay point.
We are an accredited placement for orthoptic students and we also have an orthoptic led school screening service.

Situated on the M4 we have good transport links to places such as Bath, Bristol, Oxford and London. There is also easy access to such tourist areas as the Cotswolds and the South West
We are a large trust that works in partnership across the region with other trusts. It is a forward looking trust with exciting expansion plans. Current building projects include a new urgent care centre and a state of the art radiotherapy treatment centre.

As an autonomous practitioner to provide high quality Orthoptic services in the acute and community
sectors. To act as a source of Orthoptic expertise using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice for the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients presenting with visual and ocular motility deficits. In addition to the specialist orthoptic role will undertake to deliver specialist care in at least one extended role area.
