Data Protection and Security Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection and Security Specialist to join our team at Locke & McCloud. As a key member of our cyber security and information security staffing company, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of data protection and security across our organisation.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage data subject requests under UK data protection laws, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and other relevant legislation.
  • Develop and enhance internal documentation and communications around the data subject request process, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the team to develop and integrate tools involved in the data subject request process, including OneTrust Privacy Rights Automation module and other internal platforms.
  • Assist in identifying improvements to reduce risk and ensure compliance, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legal Basis for Processing Checklists.
  • Support the application of organisation-wide processes such as Data Protection by Design and Default, collaborating with business teams and the IT department as necessary.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of data protection and security training, awareness initiatives, and eLearning programmes.
  • Provide well-considered and clear advice on data protection and security-related queries, both internally and externally.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of UK data protection legislation, including UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and PECR.
  • Recognised data protection qualifications, such as UK GDPR Practitioner, CIPP/E, or CIPM.
  • Substantial experience in handling data subject requests under the UK GDPR.
  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively and flexibly within a team to achieve collective goals.
