As a Special Needs Support Specialist at Academics, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs. Located in Surrey, our school provides a unique environment that closely aligns with the challenges faced by our students.

The ideal candidate will have a psychology degree or relevant SEN training and be committed to supporting students' educational journeys. Your primary responsibility will be to provide extensive 1-1 support using an Integrated Therapeutic Approach, employing specialist communication methods like Makaton and PECS.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students with autism, Down's syndrome, speech and language challenges, and social emotional needs.
  • Implementing effective communication techniques in classes of up to 8 students.
  • Utilizing therapy rooms and designated areas for specialist support from therapists including SALTs, Occupational therapists, psychologists, and counsellors.
  • Preparation for GCSE subjects and building a curriculum tailored to individual needs.
