Job Summary

This role involves supporting the Operational Site Lead in managing the daily operations of a busy parcel distribution depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily depot operations, collaborating with the Operational Site Lead to optimise resource allocation and workflow efficiency, and ensuring compliance with established procedures and standards.

The salary for this position is £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits such as competitive compensation for each parcel delivered or collected, highly subsidised van hire rates, flexible start dates, and exclusive routes tailored to the individual.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Support:
    • Assist in overseeing daily depot operations to ensure compliance with established procedures and standards.
    • Collaborate with the Operational Site Lead to optimise resource allocation and workflow efficiency.
    • Support the delivery and improvement of key operational metrics, performance indicators, and service levels.
    • Effectively communicate operational performance to internal teams and clients.
    • Adhere to health and safety and security procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Client Interaction:
    • Engage with clients to understand their specific operational requirements and contribute to maintaining positive client relationships.
    • Work with the Operational Site Lead to address client concerns and implement service enhancements.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Foster a cohesive and collaborative working environment by working closely with depot staff.
    • Provide leadership support and serve as a point of contact alongside the Operational Site Lead.
  • Data Management:
    • Assist in collecting and analysing operational data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Contribute to the preparation of reports on key operational metrics for review and decision-making.
  • Resource Coordination:
    • Support the management of personnel, equipment, and facilities to meet operational demands.
    • Collaborate with the Operational Site Lead to implement safety measures and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
    • Actively participate in identifying opportunities for process improvement and contribute to implementing operational enhancements.
    • Stay informed about industry developments and integrate relevant best practices into daily operations.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Assist in addressing operational challenges and implementing corrective actions to maintain smooth operations.
    • Support the resolution of escalated issues and ensure timely communication of solutions.
Requirements

Qualifications:

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in a relevant operational role within the parcel delivery or logistics industry is advantageous.

  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when necessary.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and basic knowledge of analytics tools.
